Default steering problem, no power steering to the left

As the title states, I've got an 02 Sierra with no power assist when turning left. To the right, it works just fine. No leaks or groans.

Thoughts and suggestions?

You have a valve sticking in the steering gear. You could try new fluid with a power steering additive before you replace it, never hurts to try. Chances are you'll be replacing the gearbox anyway.

Is it possible to rebuild the valves in the rack?

If you purchase a steering gear, it will be remanufactured. It is not something that a person can dis-assemble and repair.

It is a gear box or rack? Either way, there is a spool valve that goes bad and will cause the condition you described (as mentioned more than once above lol) When this happened to my gear box, it was only available as an assembly, same thing with a rack I believe.
