I recent change cams to a TR220 and need more stall.My yank TT3000 is too tight.
I still need some towing capability.I tow a 17ft bass boat and a 5x10 trialer with a 4wheeler
I need 32-3600 stall

Called yank and they recommended the PRO TRUCK 3200 or 3600...$945
Not sure a circle D 278mm 3200 will do what i want...

Any other options?

 

That 278mm circle d is just as tight as your current yank. I have a pt3800 yank and love it. IMO pt32-3400 would be perfect for you

 

Honestly that 3600 would be great. I loved my ss4000 but I needed no towability. The 3600 will put your shift extension around 4700 or 4800 rpms prolly but hit a helluva lot harder than that TT converter.

The 3600 is a 245mm right? I don't see any 278mm converter performing well on a moderately cammed 5.3, they just need more converter imo.

Even my lil stock engine 4.8 crew cab with the ss4000 pulled 1.8 60's and ran 8.90's in the 1/8. I bet that 3600 will help A LOT, it did on mine even with the 3.23's.

 

yea i figured that circle d was about the same as what i had.

BUT i hate to spend $945 for that stall and my 150k 4l60e take a dump and kill my new stall

You could go with a single disc circle d for $745... I know its still a lot to waste when the trans takes a dump... it is a little cheaper though

Hell I bought my yank in the classifieds for $400 or $450 I don't remember... maybe that's an option?

 

blackgmc has that circle d 3200, and it's not near as tight as I expected. works great behind his 6.0.

 

Forget about towing with the PT3600. That's the same one I ran, except 4l80 vesion.

I think Dave recommended the PT3200 at the most for towing purposes.

I really don't see any gain for you going from the tt3000 to pt3200.

Personally, I don't think any other converter than the stock one is reasonable for towing.

 

That same converter behind a 5.3 will be tighter than behind Corey's 6.0. I don't know if it would even be worth doing if it wasn't a decent jump in stall speed and str.

A used stall wouldnt be a bad idea it just to find one at a reasonable price

Looks like i am limited on choices because i want to still tow light loads
