I called Circle D today asking some questions
I found a smokin deal on 245mm 3600 c4 multi disc stall BUT was advised against it because of my towing needs
Was recommended the 258mm verison for my needs BUT the $1045 price kinda hurts
SOO
I asked about the 278mm 3200 stall if it could be tweeked some .Was told yes they could loosen it up some but couldnt say if it would stall 1-400rpm more.
I may go this route ^^^^to keep my towing capability and gain a few rpm more stall speed.WORST case i gain 200rpm more stall but i have a feeling it will stall 3400.Also stays away from a really loose stall which i really dont want in my DD
To try this i am only out a few dollars with selling my yank

If you tow with a small converter it really helps to keep it in 3rd gear instead of letting it shift into OD. I have always been told you will have two issues with 245mm converters and towing.... heat and converter clutch being to small.
If you have a GREAT cooler, deep trans pan(aftermarket with fins) and tune it for lockup in "D" position at part throttle you should do ok for keeping heat down, right?
Also leaving it in D(3rd) will take alot of load off the converter clutch while towing.
the only issue then will be not having overdrive and rpms will be higher...but whos racing while towing boats anyway..
