Thanks Atomic. I'll let ya know, I'll get it tore apart and come up with a plan. Any ideas are welcome.

I've seen it before but I need to compile a list, gonna get rid of my
4wd. Maybe do a 4 link just not sure what I'll do from here yet.

Thanks for the interest and help.

Looks to me like your pinion nut wasn't torqued correctly, and it came loose. Then the pinion gear smacked the carrier. It should have been making some hellacious noises to tell you something was wrong, well before it grenaded on you.

The gears and bearings will definately need replaced. Id inspect the carrier very closely, it may still be okay, even with the markings on it.

Just a slight whine. I'm not convinced that the 4wd was to blame here. If you look at the first pic the nut is on the ground. It musta backed up. I torques it when I out it on don't remember what the spec was.

The pinion gears have a little damage to them and the thread is a little messed up. I'll probably replace them just to be sure.

At the least Pinion bearing/ race, seals, crush sleeves, pinion nut and a new yoke.

Well I just went through some of the same crap you did. I just finished up both diffs and found out the trans has issues now. Only I wasn't driving nice when the rear went. My trans was built really well too, so I thought. Good luck to ya. Wish I had some luck!!

You'll likely get away with just a new ring & pinion set, and an install kit. I'd do the carrier side bearings as well, just because they aren't expensive, and you know there was some metal floating aroung in the gear oil. Of course a new yoke, and whatever you gotta do to repair the prop shaft. It would also be a good idea to clean out your axle tubes.

Take a really close look at the extension housing off the back of your tranfer case. You need to make sure that nothing up there cracked when the **** hit the fan.

That sucks to hear. You pay to play that's for sure. I hope my tranny is all good after this. It's only been on for 3500 miles

I'll be sure to check that out. The gears only have 1200 miles on them which sucks. I could just put my 3.42s back in. Do you think that'd be a good ratio for my set up anyhow?

I usually recommend gear ratio size after considering the wheel/tire package being used, powertrain package being used, and the persons goals. Every person is looking for something different than the next. Going back to 3.42's would be an easy budget-wise choice for you, and performance will probably still be good. Plus, you'll regain the ability to use your 4x4, without spending more money on the front diff parts. But if you're looking for a gear ratio to better your setup in the quarter mile, I think you'll need different gears(front and rear).
