Default Solid driveshaft on Ex-cab

I have a 2 peice right now. I know the Avalanches and z71 run the 1 peice. I plan on getting a 4L80e at some point. Just wanted to know if it can be done? Is it safe?
Thanks

I actually, changed my one piece to a two piece. I was having HORRIBLE vibration issues and with a long DS it's really hard to trouble shoot...critical speed...blah blah...I wouldn't goto a one piece if I were you. Just cut down the first shaft. Those 4.10's you are looking to install are gonna cause that shaft's rev to pick up anyway. The 2 piece has some parasitic loss I'd imagine, but nothing to worry about unless your looking for that extra .1 in the quarter.

FWW, I have a 3"steel DS and a 4" aluminum DS I'll sell ya if you do decide to go one piece. The are cut down to fit the 80e swap already.

A one piece is fine but you need to get it balanced by a professional driveline shop though. Hey Dew how much you want for those axles Im going to be doing an 80e conversion in a few months?

The large aluminum stock shaft is filled with foam. Nothing should be rattling inside of it. LOL If there is...serious problem I'd say.

Brian it wasn't that bad of a mod either. I got my two piece from a junk yard...fitted it up and had a really good welding friend make sure it would all stay in place.
