i know mine seems to be some fluke in manufacturing, i have never herd another do it.

So, if I wanted to stay with a 2 peice, take the stock shaft to a driveline shop and have them modify it?

yep. Get everything in place as much as you can and make the measurement that the shaft would need to be. They will cut it, weld it, and balance it.

that's (was) my issue. I drive 80+ so much that I just set my idle speed for in gear at 4K rpm. gas mileage?WTF is that?

I get about 18 @ 80mph

Imagine if you drove 65 only. 18 is damn impressive in the crew nevertheless. I am just to freaking busy to work out my tuning issues, I am no where in the world near 18mpg.
