I have heard of it but have not seen an explanation. Is it a 1/2, 2/4...
Any help will be appreciated. I would like to lower my truck a bit, but I have no money money to for any type of drop since I just ordered a set of Pacesetter's

 

depends how long you're willing to wait. I have $175 into my drop which includes:
DJM flip kit with cnotch-$60
DJM Control Arms-$15.50
Doetsch tech shocks-$100

 

on a z71 a poor mans drop is decranking the tbars in the front(1-1.5") and taking out the lift block in the rear(2")

on a 2wd id say itd be something like shackles in the rear and taking out the overload springs and cutting the front springs

althought i dont reccommend cutting springs EVER

buying used will be the cheapest way to get a drop

That seems like a great deal for how low your truck is. I was thinking something along the lines of like a 2/4 at the most. Something that still rides good and that still lets me use my stock size 265/17s.

Does decranking the torsion bars make the front end softer? Taking the lift block out from under the leaf does nothing to effect the rear suspension, right? When do you reccommend I switch shocks out to something better suited for a lowered truck(1/2, 2/4, 4/6?)

decranking the tbars makes it a bit softer but you could get some lowering tbar keys to eliminate that

to take the lift block out you will need some 2wd ubolts but they are quite inexpensive. if your pinion angles now are on the limit of binding they may bind with a 2" rear drop and may require some pinion shims

go to a shock for a lowered app. like a edlebrock performer IAS, toxic shock, doestch(fubar'd spelling) tech, nitro active, etc. ( ideally some qa1s but thats high dollar adjustables)

 

My drop is pretty much a "budget drop"....lowering keys, removed lift blocks, and 2" rear shackles. Haven't done shocks yet but I'm getting by with what I have for now. Besides the keys and shackles, the only other expenses are the 2wd U-bolts, and a wheel alignment if you don't have access to an alignment rack.

 

so that means you're upgrading to spindles . . . . your chick loose some weight? j/k

 

Un-cranking the t-bars doesn't make them any softer, there still the same spring rate, but any time you to adjust them, you HAVE to have it realigned.

My truck I took 5 turns out of the t-bars, removed the lift blocks and put 275/60/16 on it and it dropped it 1 1/2 in the front and 2 3/4 in the rear.
