Default shift solenoids not working untill commanded

i put my truck back to stock with a stock 60E. the truck starts out in 3rd gear because for some reason my shift solenoids are not turning on. however with my EFI live scan tool i can go into the DVT(f12) tab and command both of them on. when i do that the truck starts off in 1st gear like it is suppose to. so to me that tells me that the solenoids are not bad and it must be something else.

im not throwing any codes. does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? something in the tune maybe?

For some reason the PCM is in Limp Home mode. So it's in the tune. Can you post it?

the tune is through nelson and is locked. wouldn't it throw a code if it was in limp mode? i checked for codes with my efi live and a snap on scanner just in case it wasn't tripping the SES light.

If no pending codes, it's probably the PCM or wiring to the transmission is not right. Maybe faulty speed sensor or bad wire?

ive checked the wiring to the trans, everything is plugged in, and in the right places. speed sensors were replaced. all the wiring looks good too, no crushed wires that i can see.

Well, if it isn't shifting, then the PCM is looking for a signal it is not receiving.
