Yes, the shift kit is good for your trans.

The shift kit will help by raising fluid pressure, and shifting quicker.

The factory shifts are soft and slow, good for normal people, but to shift like this the clutches " slip " a bit .Not good.

The shift kit helps eliminate the slipping , that in turn provides a more firm shift, better for your clutches to live longer.

Do the shift kit. 200$ install is high !

Is this the Transgo HD2 shift kit? Or their basic one? They are not hard to install but take some time so $200 sounds reasonable if they charge 50-100 per hour. Takes me a couple of hours to do especially if you need to remove the exhaust.

Think about it guys, if he brings it to a shop, they are going to recommend a new filter kit, plus fluid. Most shops will charge an hour just to do a filter kit. Add to that pulling the valve body, modifying it, and reinstalling it.

If that is all being done for $200, that's a pretty fair price in my opinion.
