went to start my truck the other day and everything would turn on but it would not engage the starter. Upon further investigation i noticed my shift indicator was stuck on 2nd and i couldn't get it off. The gears are shifting normally but it is not registering. I assumed it was my gear indicator switch and ordered one and installed - same thing. Anyone know what could cause this? It is a 4l80e swapped into a 1/2 ton, thanks.

 

Most likley its the PRNDLE switch on the side of the trans at the linkage unless of course thats what you are referring to as the "Gear indicator switch"

anyone? i also tried unpluging all the wires to the switch and it still says 2nd until i try and shift then the indicator disappears all together

 

Did you take the neutral safety switch out of your 4l60e and put it in the 4l80e?

 

in case this happens to anyone else i got it workin. I re-flashed the computer with Hp Tuners and the indicator went back to park and its worked fine ever since, weird.

 

mine is similar it says 2nd but will start and then say park,, once i put it in gear it reads N for like 10 seconds and then finally switches to gear,, i can feel the truck run different when its in gear reading neural.. also my reverse lights dont turn on unless u kinda jiggle to shifter to get it in the right spot to make lights work

how did u ""reflash ur ecu" im tuned by nelson,,, ive had a few different tunes and they all do the same thing
