rpms and long trip

Default rpms and long trip

have a quick question is 2700 rpms at 80 mph alot 4 a 3600 mile trip. does rpm affect engine wear?just checking that the engine wont go out on me. by the way the truck is a 07 xcab 2wd vmax 430 gears on a 31.9 tall tire

Engine won't 'go out' on you but yes, engine life is affected by how hard you run it. Fuel usage will suck for sure, lol. Slow down and keep rpms under 2300 for more efficiency.

trever what gears do u have? what rpm do u drive on long trips/hiway

i went to yosemite and back with 4.56's and a 32 inch tall tire. gas mileage isnt very good in my truck to say the least. i keep it at about 70 and thats about 2400 rpms.

3.73's 70mph is about 2200. If I keep it around 65 my mpg is ~19

dam thats good. im told ive got 430 gears and with my stock 20s the tire height is 31.9 and it does 2600 at 78/80 does that sound right?

your told you have 4.30's? it sounds right im doing a little higher at 80. almost 3 grand.

haha doin 65 to laughlin for 10 miles straight i was getting... 26 mpg.... then again i got an inky dinky 4.8

goin 80 at 2600-2700 rpm nets me about 18 to 19

is ur tire a 275 55 20 cause a thats a 31.9 thats what ive got. hows ur gas mpg? what rpm do u normally drive ur truck? do u know where on the net is a gear/tire calculater?
