Rear End is making noises on turns! (OPEN DIFF)
#21
Yeah, i did order the ones you linked to, my reciept and the box both say 85-2022. They originally told me that there were a few 2000 trucks that had a different set, and i may need the 85-2022a. well i started poking around there site and found that set, the 85-2021a and the picture matches exactly what i have.
so they put the wrong gears in the box and ill miss another day of work because of it

new gears came and they're the same as the old ones.
They look nothing like the ones in the picture (the ones in the picture match my truck visually)
both boxes are marked 85-2022 which is correct.
guess i have to get my money back and go to the dealership

probably, have to pull the rear cover off to inspect the spider gears inside the carrier.
Apparantly i have the bastard child of gm differentials. my diff has 2 large windows and most have one large, one small.
85-2022 is for one large, one small (most trucks have this)
85-2022a is for 2 large window carriers.
i wont get the correct gears untill monday.

well summit cant get the gears, so i got them from a dealership
gears i got from the dealership look the same as stock, but i cannot get them in
First i put the two gears that spine into the axel in, then i try to put the two small gears in, they wont go. i try to mesh them with the side gears and spin them in with no luck, ive tried for 2 hours.
upon close inspection to the original gear, they are not the exact same. the new ones ribs look a little taller, overall dimensions seem the same but the ribs seem bigger on the new ones.
anyone ever have this issue? im ready to drive the POS fwd off a cliff.
