Could go to the dealership, or get some aftermarket stock replacement parts (Napa, Autozone, etc.), or get some performance stuff from a company like SSBC, Brembo, Wilwood, etc.

So, the rear axle housing is the same?... say from 2001 to 2006... just that drums replaced the disk setup?

Thanks,

Bill

I *think* they're the same...maybe try a search in the suspension and drivetrain section...I think some folks have done this before.

If a mod could move this thread over there, it may get more responses also.

I think they are the same axles, just different backing plates. Should be able to buy all the parts from GM and do it yourself, or find a wreck and pirate the parts that way.

If all you need is the hardware that would seem like a very simple swap. Would you need a proportioning valcve and upgrade the master cylinder?

from what i understand its fine without one. rear braking power is still 70/30 whether its drum or disc in the rear.

the biggest problem is making sure that the master cylinder allows the pressure needed for disc, which i believe it will.

So all I need to do is swap all the stuff off a disc rear end. If I went to a junk yard and bought the rear end out of a truck that had disc and 3.73s or 4.11s would I be able to just bolt it in? Is there anything that I should look for when trying to make a pruchase?
