Question about torque converters
#11
No problem as a daily driver IMO. I can really tell the difference in a couple areas. When you launch from stop, I seem to get much more torque from a stop and revs a bit more than stock. Normal "slowly applying pressure to gas pedal" does not feel any different than stock. When the lockup clutch engages (triple disc), it feels like another gear compared to stock. Towing a 5,000lb trailer and starting from a stop is noticeably different than stock. Significantly more rpms as you start moving. Seems to flash higher with a trailer which makes sense at least to me.
I was worried about towing and daily driver attributes. Chuck at FLT convinced me this would be a good choice and he was spot on! I would do it again in a minute.

At a red light if your just easing around and aint got nothing but time, it would act just like a stock converter, maybe 200-300rpms more.
While sittin there and you nailed the throttle it would shoot to ~2400 (if you have a 2400 stall) not sure about what tires you got and all..
With my stock converter it would just chirp the tires.
Now with the TT3000 and STS kit, first gear just puts the tires into a smoke machine...

If ur getting a FLT just ask Chuck what u need. I just got my trnas back and call PI and they gave me a part # that I gave to Chuck. I wanted a 3,000 10.5 for my truck cause it is so heavy. He called me back and told me I needed another convertor. I ended up with a 2,600 but with the weight of the truck it stalls to 3,000. Listen to Chuck he no's what he is talking about. I counldn't be happier.
