Default Question about 14 bolt install

So I’ve had this axle for quite some time now, finally got it painted and have pulled the bearings and seals. Before I pulled the axles I obviously pulled the pinion shaft and the yoke has probable been spun in moving and painting it. Could that mess anything up when I’m putting it back together? Will I be able to tell? When I’m putting the pinion shaft and the c clips in? Total noob question I’m sure just trying to not mess anything up. Thanks!

If you left the pinion gear in and only removed the parts necessary to get the seal out you need to make sure everything is clean when you replace the seal. You will also need to reset the bearing preload when you re assemble it. Assuming your getting a new seal and crush sleeve? Other wise I hope you measured the Preload if your reusing the old crush sleeve...

so I’m talking about the metal cylinder that is removed in a 14 bolt semi float and also in the 12 bolts as well when you pull the axles out and remove the c clips. I think you’re talking about the pinion gear bearings I was talking about the Axle seal bearings. Wasn’t planning on messing with those

The pin will go back in but you may have to rotate the carrier up or down a bit to find the sweet spot where it falls into place.

ok thank you, basically just double checking that I wouldn’t have messed up the alignment of anything by rotating the yoke in painting and transport. Basically what I’m hearing is as long as the pin goes back in then it’s properly aligned and we’re good to go. Thanks!
