proper way to check trans fluid
#1
I have heard so many ways of checking the proper transmission fluid level. I tried to check it the other day after driving it around for about 30 minutes. I let it run in the driveway, the truck was level and I cyled through all the gear selections on the column, pausing for a few seconds on each one and puting it back in park. With the engine still running, I checked the level and it showed just a little low so I turned the truck off and added about a third of a quart in and fired it back up. I repeated the same process but now it showed a little over full
Well I left it at that, and checked it again 3 days later and it showed a little low again using the same procedure, just below the hash marks. Am I doing something wrong, there seems to be no consistancy?

Actually you should check it in neutral...be careful though. Also the fluid level will rise and fall depending on engine temperature. As long as you're in the hash marks you're cool.

I check mine about every other time I fill up for gas, which is about every other week. lol. I was on a cell phone with the engine running (cut-out open), and this old lady came up to me and gave me and let me to the sdupit warrning sign. lol I was like "don't you watch meth busters? Cell phones don't cause fires"
O.K back on topic. lol
