Default popping when turning

hey guys my truck has developed a popping sound when making a hard right or hard left it isn't a loud pop and sometimes it doesn't do it I have hear it could be my intermediate steering shaft? also heard that could be ball joint idk what I was wondering is there any way to check those without tearing the front end apart because I don't want to tear it apart and then that not be the problem. thanks

info 2001 ecsb 2wd 208,000 miles

Sounds like ball joints. Jack up the front end and with one hand grab the top of the tire and with the other hand on the bottom and try to move the tire inside and out. Shouldn't have any play.

The engine crossmember can develop a pop or "snap" sound as well.

Is it in the front for sure or could it be in the rear?

Do you have a g80?
