Default POLL: what would improve my ride on the freeway

I have a 06 silverado ext cab that bounces like crazy and i am tired of dealing with it. I played with air pressures and all of the suspension checks out ok with the dealer. They tell me its a truck but my son bounces in his car seat pretty bad and it makes my wife sick to her stomach. Doesnt sound normal to me. I was thinking that some air helper springs between the axle and frame would help to preload the suspension a little bit. I was told to put weights in the back but i thought the bags would work better.

Wife approved me for the bags should i go for shocks as well to try and prevent the *** from hopping on the concrete highways?

Nobody?

I tracked a big rig with a slam bang trailer all loaded up today. The trailer has some very large airbags on the rear axle and we were on the same road and speed his axles were bouncing like crazy but his trailer was just cruising like a caddy. Now my truck was bouncing the rear end so much my tires were losing contact with the road a chirping. Seems to me like i need to get some bags!!

Sounds like you have some serious issues. Have you lowered or raised the truck? What size rims do you have? If its bouncing bad enough for a tire to leave the ground air bags arn't going to help. Tire out of round or balance?

Suspension is stock, rims are stock size tires are stock size and all are balanced. Alignment just performed. Both Ford, Chevy, and firestone tell me there is no issues with the vehicle. No one can give me any answers. The GM dealer said this is normal its a truck.

Some stiffer shocks would definitely help. Especially for the slower rolling bumps.

Did you buy the truck new? Sounds like the back shocks or bad! The reason I asked if the truck wuz bought new is because somebody before you might of added extra leafs to haul more weight causing it to ride like a wagon when not hauling anything! Just a guess..

There are only two leafs in the leaf spring pack. Its a v6 wt model.

The hopping is on the concrete slab highway sections. Everywhere else this truck handles excellently in my opinion, very tight. That is what makes me think i can run some bags to help out on the highway.

Correction there are four leafs i just checked...lol

How much higher is the back compared to the front? Some drop shackles might help it ride better! Btw on a smooth road ur shocks don't have much to do! it's on that rough part of the road that u need ur shocks! My 91 chevy had bad shocks & when I would cross railroad tracks it would almost bounce the truck sideways!

It's got to be the shocks
