Wife is only giving me one shot to fix the bouncing. What shocks should i go with? If i put a shock from say a 2500 or a 1500 hd would it have better performance in a lighter vehicle?

How much higher is the back compared to the front?
The back sits about an inch or two above the front. It has a block between the leafs and axle is that factory? Shackles can be bought cheap at the local auto parts store i think. I might try that first.

A shackle won't change your ride AT ALL.

As for shocks, any brand with a good reputation should do you well (KYB, Bilstein, etc.). I've been extremely happy with my Bilsteins. Just get the shock that is listed for your application.

Did you have freeway bounce? Did the shocks help?

how much weight do you typically have in the truck? those are for cargo...not everyday.

bilsteins (non hd), kyb monomax, even the edelbrock ias will solve this.

I usually dont have anything in the bed and just my toolbox in the back seat. Not much for wieght. Been reading a lot about the "frame beaming" problems and the bilstein hd shocks didnt take out enough of the bounce. Not sure what else i can put in there to keep it from bouncing. I read a GM service bulletin about rear cab mounts being revised to address this but i dont see how a cab mount will keep it from bouncing the rear?

by bouncing, do you mean that it feels like the truck is floating, as if the front end never settles, kinda like an oldschool caddy? if so yeah i would say new shocks, i went with belltech street and performance shocks on my 06 because it felt this way, and now its very tight, not bouncing and floating at all.

Shocks should do the trick, I went to Bilstein HD's and they made the truck a lot smoother. Shock warehouse has good prices

Ya it is kinda floaty in the front but only because i can see my bed bouncing like a basketball on the concrete freeway divisions so much my kids head is bouncing like hell. Around town it is pretty good and responsive. Much better than i would expect from a truck.

Are the highways your driving down torn up from semi's, like have a wash board effect?
