Default over half way through my t56 swap

Well i finnaly did my trans swap, the 4l60 for the t56, gettin close to being done, got the t56 in and bolted up. Got the drive shaft hooked up, the started on. All i really got left is the clutch pedal, cutting the hole for the shifter and the trans mount. All and all i have to say the hardest part was just pulling the 4l60 out. Ohh yeah if some one could chime in and let me know what wires have to be hooked up were it would help out alot.

thanks
Jon

damn! Everyone has jumped on the T56 swaps here lately. You won't regret it. Unsure about the plugs on the automatics since mine was a 5 speed.
Here is a pic of the shifter hole cut if it helps. it needs to be big enough so you can remove the shifter through the top.

oh, and some of my shifter through the console if it helps.

What I did was take the front bolt from the front seats and drew a straight line across. From there I just measured 3-4 inches forward, in the center of the transmission tunnel is where I started my hole. I started small and worked my way to where it is now. I had a friend of mine get alittle crazy with the cutting wheel and he ended up makeing the hole alittle bigger than needed to be.

FYI the hole above in pic is just big enough, 6"x3.5" If I remember correctly. I put the trans in with no shifter and jacked it up to the floor and drew around the shifter mount and cut from there. That way you know it is right. You don't have to have the clutch or anything in it so setting it up there with 2 bolts is easy.

for when i do my 6speed swap. i have a templete from a fbody that im going to use. im also going to use the rubber booty they use to seal off the tunnel to the outside. if any of you seen a fbody youll see that they have a rubber booty around the hole. so over my xmas break ill try and get the trans mocked up and pics taken. i plan on documenting this swap very carefully

The back up lights are easy to hook up. It's only two wires. And I believe my hole is 6"x3.5" too. As for the rubber boot, it's a must IMO. It really helps to keep the noise down from the road and tranny itself. I remember I was driving around for a few weeks with nothing there, getting used to everything and I had to slam on the brakes. My damn cell phone flew off the seat, on to the floor and out of the hole.

I have pictures of EVERYTHING from the A4 to M6 swap if you need them just let me know.

I didn't do the boot but I do know if you don't cut the carpet out like the hole and just cut an X from corner to corner of the hole + about an inch (insulation too) the shifter will poke up through it and the insulation will still be there. I have the console to dampen the noise as well though.

Loosing the cell phone
