I've got a link to a place that sells the APC Carbon Fiber hood for under $400, but they aren't a sponsor so PM me for the link. They charge like $50 for shipping, so it's still under $500 shipped. Also, you may want to look into Real Racing Wheels. Moregrip runs them with his slicks and they have a TON of sizes and are super light, as well as being WAY cheaper than billets. You may want to look into building a ChromeMoly trans crossmember. You can make one that is super easy to remove, and prob. knock around 40-50lbs off without jeopardizing reliability....and it wouldn't cost much as you could re-use your mount, just buy some chromo. round tube. You could save a TON of weight by backhalving it and ditching the factory frame from the cab back...but thats a lot of work...altho 250lbs would not be out of the question there. I have a link for the wheels and hood if anyone wants it.

i was checking out the realracingwheels. they are ok. in the wheel section i see a timelss 6 18x8 comes in at 20lbs vs about 15 for th 15x10 racingwheel. not sure how much a smaller diameter billet wheel will weigh but i bet it is less.

being able to pick my design and exact bs would probably be worth those few lbs to me.

how about a like to that hood? i would like to see exactly what one weighs.

Links sent via PM. How beefy is that trans crossmember?? I had a chrome moly one made for my G-Body when I had it and it took 40lbs off the car as compared to the stock one.

it is prety beefy. i droped it on my head one day and had a hell of a lump . i could make something that weighs much less. i bet it weighs 30lbs or more. how strong does something like that need to be?

i looked at that hood. i am skepticle of that price but if it is true that would be great.

With teh power you are going to be making I would think you would need all the chassis stiffness you can get, maybe some extra reinforcing. There was a 197X model chevy truck at my local track a year or so ago that had the stock frame with a four link and he was having trouble hooking because the frame was flexing so much, a couple of months later he was back out there and he had added some more/better crossmembers and was doing much better. I realize our frames are much better but you are also putting out 1/3+ more power then him.

Chromemoly round tube is plenty strong. I wish I had a picture of the one I had in my G-Body but I cant find it right now. I hear ya on the hood. I'd call them and see what they say. Worst case let Visa/MC fight with em and refund your money. That's the payment they ask for. You can find the number in the ad, and I PM'd it to ya.
