Nickel Plated Slip Yolk
#1
I have a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe Limited 2WD(old body style). Im wondering if the updated nickel plated rear slip yolk for the 4WD application, GM part number 12479383, will work in this C series Tahoe. The tsb regarding these updated slip yolks do not provide part nubers for 2WD trucks and suvs. I'm assuming this is because 2WDs dont have that many problems with clunks due to a deleted transfer case. GM part number 7848635 is the only slip yolk showing for this Tahoe. Im pretty sure its not nickel plated. So will a rear slip yolk for a C1500 Tahoe match one for a K1500 Tahoe of the same year?
Thanks in advance for any input.

are you looking yo replace yours?
do you hear the clunk?
i replaced mine a few years back with the nickel plated slip yoke, and i haven't heard a clunk since. i have an aluminum drive shaft and 4WD.
not sure if they are different for 2WD

My 2000 2wd had the same amount of driveline clunk as my 2002 4wd does.
Just giving info here.
I have ridden in many trucks of various years and most of them had "the clunk" to some extent 2wd or 4wd.

Do you have a one piece aluminum drive shaft? I was replacing u-joints one day and the guys at the auto store said I should of had a 2 piece DS but mine was a single aluminum DS.
Just curious to see if the previous owner had it changed.

Yes Im going to replace it.
I hear/feel the clunk. I tried packing the yolk with wheel bearing grease and that worked for about a month. Now its back.

I went to the dealer today and talked to mechanic, he told me he just
replaced yoke today for a customer. I told him mine was clunking but
hated to pay $300 for a nickle plated yoke. He showed me where they
stick and told me to sand rust off and put grease on it and clunk would go away.
I thought they were sticking inside the yoke, but he said it was on the outside.
If it works will be a cheap fix.
