The tsb regarding these updated slip yolks do not provide part nubers for 2WD trucks and suvs. I'm assuming this is because 2WDs dont have that many problems with clunks due to a deleted transfer case. GM part number 7848635 is the only slip yolk showing for this Tahoe. Im pretty sure its not nickel plated. So will a rear slip yolk for a C1500 Tahoe match one for a K1500 Tahoe of the same year? Thanks in advance for any input.

Hope this helps

Took Driveshaft out today sanded it, put grease on it and installed.
No more clunk. Much cheaper than a $300.00 Nickle yoke.

I have 2005 GMC 2500HD 4x4 and my truck is making the clunking sound when you takeoff. I know its the slip yoke that gets dry. I had it pulled out and grease but it only lasted 3 months and the sound was back. Up here in canada the slip yoke is about $650. I was wondering if anybody has modified the slip yoke and installed a grease niple so that you can grease it yourself once a month. If this works you would save lot of money. what do you think? Woody

I don't think that installing a grease fitting into the yoke would be a good idea...aside from compromising the integrity of the yoke, that will introduce an area for trans fluid to leak out.

I replaced my yoke when I swapped my trans last summer and it cured the clunk that my truck has had pretty much since it was new. I payed less than $200 for the part with my dealer discount

What good does it do anybody, you or us, to tell us what your dealer discount is?
