Default newbie,4l60e beef up

Hey guys ,names Brian completly new to silvys, always owned s10s over the years but anyways..got a nbs99 rcsb stepside 4.8 auto with 70k on the clock..has the g80code,nothing to brag about, with 3.73s.future plans are tr220cam on 112 lsa, longtubes blackbear tune etc but first I want to beef up the Tranny cause like s10s,I know the 60e does have weaknesses so my plans are transgo-hd2,sonnax pinless forward,1-2,3-4 accumulators, beast sunshell, vette servo ,true cooler 40k,and a stall. Couple questions,1on circle d website does the 278mm stall have lock up,whats the diffrence between yank and circle d,why is yank so much more? Im wanting either a yank ss3200 or the circle d 278mm non pro that claims ,2600-3200stall.
2.the transgo hd2..I want nice firm shifts nothing that slams into gear,I will be driving the truck long ways on highways in hot humid weather for 100+ miles..do I need to tell the Tranny.shop what springs to install or what holes to drill etc.i want to keep the auto shift I dont want to manually.shift it all the time.again do I need to tell them not to install this..im sorry.guys im nervous about giving the truck to someone and having it done and it shift hard squelling tires on every shift..any help would be great.

Oh and whatsit this transgo valve body.spacer plate thing thats zinc coated and stuff what does that do?

For the cost of upgrading the 60E you can buy a used 80E and not lose any sleep at night.

The 60 is perfect the way it is, I wouldn't do anything to it, just take it out, put an 80 in its place and then it will stay perfectly fine that way

I was rooting for my 60e to work too but it slipped like crazy with only 6 lbs boost. After seeing the grocery list of update parts I got scared and went running out for an 80. No looking back here...

Trucool 40k trans cooler, sonnax od servo, vette servo, hd2 kit with no washers (1 if you want hard shifts with stock converter or firm with higher stall), aluminum accumulator pistons, transgo hardened separator plate and 40% tq management removed. Avoid 4-2 downshifts.

All of these can be done without removing the trans and won't break the bank. I have about 80k miles on my 60e with the above upgrades and half of them have been boosted. 500rwtq in a 6000lb SUV and it doesn't skip a beat.

Obviously I am the outlier as many have killed theirs in lighter trucks with less power, but I only have a couple of hundred in my "build" and didn't expect it to last a year, so invested accordingly. An 80e is money well spent, but a budget 60e build like above can get you a year or more of time to save up.

looks like ur just wanting a decent street truck, a cam and some bolt on's. i think a full out 80e swap is over kill. just do what tx tahoe said and youll be fine.. not saying a 80e is bad, but its not just a bolt in and go. cross member mods, wiring harness mods, youll need to space out the flywheel with a spacer, then get a transmission tune. couple other things. if your planning on anything over 500rwhp, then yeah, id look into a 80e swap.

Ya im looking to build a decent street truck nothing around 500HP,if I wanted that id ditch the 4.8and 60e for an lq9 and 80e swap but thats just not what I want. I know alot of people say the 60e is junk but I know alot of people who put a vette servo on it bolted a 6.0 to it and beat the bag outta it and it held up to the punishment.

Txtahoe, thank you ,thats really what I wanted to hear.im doing the beast sunshell aswell so im most likely going to have a shop do the work.I could tackle the shift Kit I think my self but ive never got into trannys so im hesitant.

Can anyone tell me the diffrence between the yank and circle d stalls.I hear great things about both but theres a huge price diffrence, and txtahoe, what does that plate do that your taking about, and when u say 1washer gets u firm, how firm?..like banging into gear?
