Default New trans. 4L60E or 4L80E????

I need a new trans and Im not sure which trans to go with. Im on a budget right now maybe later I can put in a level 5 or something but I want a trans that will last me a little while daily driven and give me the option to go to the track if I want to.... Im currently in a 00' 4x4 Tahoe 130,000 miles w/ an intercooled 67mm STS turbo kit. I havn't been to the dyno w/ the new tune yet but Im thinking Im in the 450hp-500hp range and 500-575 torq. range. Im running big wheels and drive it about 50 miles a day.. please help

any advice would be great as to wether or not to just rebuild and parts to used or not to use.

any been there done that will help also....

oh by the way im working on a new 408 stroker which is probably a year or so away, so if the trans will hold up with that, that would be great.

4L80e....you don't have much choice with the future plans and all just do it now.

Best advice you have ever gave....... lol

If money is tight, get a junkyard 4l80e....

I'd put a junkyard 4l80 with a shift kit up against ANY 4l60

How hard is the convertion?
does anyone offer a kit?
wheres the best place to get a junk 4l80e?
What about the fact that my truck is a 4x4 will i need the 4x4 transfer case or can I reuse the stock case.
I found a walk through on another site and it looks pretty straight forward but 3 local trans shops all told me that ill need to buy a computer or something for it, and that they would recommend a built 60e than a 80e.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've read that a 4L80e with a shift kit will be stronger than even the best build 60e

I don't think so, stock 80's are pretty stout, but they won't hold 600-700 rwhp very long without burning up or breaking the stock intermidiate sprag. I'd put my new 60 vs a stock 80 any day!

FLT lvl 5 is good to 550 rwhp. There is a member here (forgot his name) who has a turbo 6.0 i believe for 2 years 600rwhp on a bone stock 80e.
