Default Need help: Horrible ride on my 03 Sierra. :-(

I have an 03 Sierra with the mods listed in my sig (edelbrock IAS shocks front and rear, hotchkis coils in the front and Belltech leafs in the back for a 2/4 drop.) The front end rides perfect but the rear bounces like crazy! It did this even when I had Hotchkis rear leafs. I was thinking of putting new shocks in the rear, and I'm looking for some suggestions. Also has anyone ever run different brand shocks in the front an rear? I really like the way the front end rides so would rather not have to change those out too. Any help would be most appreciated since the rear ride/bouncing is seriously bad, and borderline dangerous at high speeds.

Your sig is not there.....

Is this truck 2WD or 4x4? How is the rear lowered?

Strange. It shows up when I go to my User CP. Here's the sig that should be there. The truck is a 2WD and lowered with 2 inch Hotchkis coils in the front and Beltech leafs and hangers in the back.

Sig shows up on your last post, not sure why it didn't in your first post. Wierd. Anywhoo......

How much room do you have between the axle and the jounce bumper? I'd imagine that they are really close with that setup. You probably need a notch kit. The Belltech notch is a nice piece.

Also, you may need shock extenders to improve the shock angles. Unless you already have them...

There really is hardly any room between the axle and the bump stop (See attached pics.) Also I don't have shock extenders (Pics below show shock angles.) Ok now two questions.

1.) Considering the pics does it look like I should get a notch kit and/or shock extenders, and/or new shocks?

2.) I could see how the notch kit might help but ultimately the way the rear bounces over bumps is just ridiculous. As far as the notch kit goes isn't that mostly to address frequent bottoming out? The truck doesn't have so much of an issue with that, and more an issue with insane bouncing over bumps. It almost seems as if the shocks are blown, and really aren't doing anything to control the bounce. That's why I was thinking that possibly new shocks would help really address the issue.

Yes, get a notch kit, and the shock extenders. You should be good to go after that.

Cool. So sounds like the Belltech notch kit is the way to go. Also how difficult is it to put in the notch kit? What tool would you recommend to cut the frame and does the notch kit just bolt in? Thanks for your help!

I use a cutoff wheel on a right angle die grinder. You could use a sawsall, or an angle grinder. The Belltech is a bolt in kit, and not too bad to install.

Ok cool. I have a cutoff wheel that I think should work. So with the C notch, and extenders what will me rear ride height be like? Will it change at all?

I would go back to a factory spring and mount it to a 2 inch drop hanger
