Default Need help asap with rear drums!!!!

hey. Has anybody here replace their rear drum shoes??? If so how the F@#k do you get the bottom "W" retainer back in. I.ve been fighting and fighting and can't seem to get it right. I can get it to fit the shoes but can't get it to seat in the bottom mount. please help...lol

Maybe try doing the middle part on the bottom first, then do the upper ones one side at a time...

yea I've tried that i can get it to mount in the shoes but its almost impossible to get it to fit in that bottom mount. if i try and put it in the bottom mount first i can't seen to get it in the shoes...lol i've done plenty of rear drums before just not with this type of setup.

I'll bet that there's a special tool that makes it a snap...may have to fudge something with a small pry bar or screwdriver...

If it's an 05 like mine I had asked my shop man if he has changed rears on the 05's yet and his eye-brows went up saying he had to buy a special tool to get a funny spring back in place.

yep there is a special tool to do the job. luckly my friend is good friends with the snap-on tool man. he is going to stop by my house a sell me one...lol

I finally got it done. what a pain in the A$$. I'll never do that again. I'll pay someone else to do it...lol. I don't know why chevy decided to change the way to mount the rear drum shoes. the old way was fine with me....lol just glad i finally got it done
