My 4l65e - T56 Swap - Could use some incite
#31
seeing as how i havent done my swap yet i cant tell you from experience but what i have seen on a lot of other forums is that most people bolt the bell housing to the block and then install the trans. dunno if that might be something you want to try. also did you buy the trans from rpm with no core? how much did that effect the price?

Once I go get it in I'll se e whch way works best. But I've always done on trans install
This is a t56 magnum, so it's brand new no core. Level 6 with the clutch flywheel and shipping to NY was $7000
I appreciated the input on the master. However, being all click together plastic, and the fact that I already have everything I need I'm staying with this. The way it's gonna work will be much atronger then oem. Basically using steel plates and 4 bolt holes to hold the pedal to the firewall, then the 2 bolts holding master to all that.
Difficult to explain, but you see. PLUS I'm going to have an adjustable master which will be sweet

Ive pulled my t-56 out of my Silverado like 5 times now. (for various resons)
it is MUCH easier just unbolting the trans from the bellhousing and leaving the bellhousing attached to the motor. No need to remove the starter or anything like that.
Just drop the driveshaft, exhaust, slave, and shifter then you are clear

Trans is in. mocked up a cross memeber. The 99 has a much smaller crossmemeber then the newer one from a 5 spd i bought.
Had to buy another clutch pedal. I Cut way t much material off the other. The plates are still gonna work, but Im gonna cut half of the firewall one out. I made the plate at work before i really had a good look at it. O well, mistakes happen.
