Default Moser mini spool problems

I have a 99 silverado with an 8.5 10 bolt 30 spline axles. I ordered a moser mini spool that was for my rearend and the freaking thing won't fit in my carrier. I have removed everything that I could. Has anyone else had a problem installing one of these?

So here is a new problem. I know that the moser mini didnt fit. So I went to the local HotRod shot and got a replacement spider gear set from Motive Gear. Part number GM10BI-30 and tries to install it into the same carrier. It didnt fit either. Am I missing something here. Is there a different carrier that could have been installed from the factory? I really need help with this in a bad way. I have talked to GM and they ran my vin through their system and told me that my rearend is a GM8.5 10bolt with 30 spline axles.

Post a picture of your truck, and a pic of your differential. Did you count the splines on your axle?

It is an open carrier. I don't know what the differences are from the carriers used with the 8.5 and the ones for the 8.6, but the gears and mini spool I tried like I said were for an 8.5 but were too big. I talked to numerous tech guys and even contacted the GM dealer that I bought the truck from and they all said that I had the 8.5 set-up. It would be one thing if only one of the parts didn't work, but I have 2 products from 2 companies and neither one will fit.

You don't have an 8.5, that is an 8.6, and I don't believe there is a mini spool that will fit "off the shelf".
