lil dilema...

in afew months i'll be buying an 06 rcsb can't decide wether to do 2 wheel or go ahead and get the 4x4. if i get the 4x4 i'll be lowering it with spindles and alil torsion bar uncrank... if the 2wd i'll be puttin a 4/7 or so on it.
i'm wanting to put a s/c on it later this year and after the warranty runs out building a 6.3 stroker... so with how much power i'll be running i'm not quite sure what i want if i get the 4x4 i'll be swappin in an awd case and 4l80e
if i get a 2wd i'll be swapping in a 4l80e and whatever axle i'll need to handle the power.. will the rear hook up if i we're to run 4 link and coilovers? also i won't be running much more than a 12 wide tire.

For street racing the 4wd would pwn! True its heavier but 98% of the time you wont have slicks on the truck and wont be able to launch for crap. Its more expensive but if done right it would ge awesome IMO.

If you plan to lower a 4x4 that much be prepared for problems with your cv joints on the front axles. The slightest change in angle can have drastic effects.
I would go with the 2wd with some good traction bars or 4 link it and it will hook plenty good.

I've heard that (starting from the AWD SS's O.E. ride hidth) that 2" is all you they can be lowered down to in the front. Why not just buy a SS or a Vortec Maxx eddition Silverado? I know they cost a little more, but if a lot of power is what your after, the LQ9 6.0L would be a great starting point.

It really will ball down to where you live and how you will be using this truck.
If you live where is snows go with a 4x4. If it doesn't snow and you will only stay on the concrete, go with a 2wd and build up the rear end for traction.
You can use a locker w/ 3.73 gears, Caltracs, and a spare set of drag tires & wheels. That will get a 2wd to hook quite well.
If you go the 4x4 route, just be carefull how much you lower the truck down to.
