launch auto 4wd/4hi any difference
#22
My only experience with Auto 4WD was not pleasant. Post radix on wet roads. After several normalish take offs from stop lights on a cruise into town and breaking the rear end loose each time I decided to try the auto 4wd. On normal to moderate powered takeoffs it worked fine, on the last occasion I took off quick. The rear wheels broke loose and then the transfer case kicked in. It was verrrryyy violent and am very suprised it did not break something. I will never use Auto 4wd again.

Looks like I am starting to see some of the problems some of you guys reported running in Auto 4wd. Whereas I used to have perfectly seamless launches, I am now getting about a second of rear tire spin before it start biasing torque to the front axle.
Why it went from working perfectly to what it is doing now is beyond me. Looks like I will be doing 4hi launches until I figure it out.
I am doing some digging on this, and will let you guys know what I find out.

could it be the cooler weather and you making more power? my trucks always liked auto when i was just a little beyond what the rear tires could handle but one you are making more power its not so good. auto just feels much harsher than 4hi. it lets the tires start to spin and then trys to lock it in but when you are in 4hi it never gets to spining at all.
