how to make my 05 rst rear stronger and what gears 4.10?

Default how to make my 05 rst rear stronger and what gears 4.10?
Not sure what gears are stock but rear cover has never been off on my 05 rst. Is it 3.42 gears with my 5 speed? I seems really low and I figured I could get some better low end with 4.10 gears. Also leave my stock axles and carrier? Or upgrade to what? thanks!!

A detroit tru-trac posi and 4.10 would make your rst fun...Check out Rons Machine ..there a site sponsor...
-Leave the axles alone..and get a t/a rear dif cover...

what size rear do I have 8.25 ring gear?

You have an 8.6 rear. It's really an 8.5" ring gear but with the larger bearings, GM differentiated it by calling it an 8.6

You have a 8.5/8.6 30 spline 10 bolt..the f-bodys have the same with a 28 spline...

Actually 4th gen's (and maybe 3rd's? I dunno) have a 7.5", 10-bolt ring gear. How they got it to survive behind the LS1 is beyond me..

Whoops..I meant 10 bolt only...x2 on the ls1 thing...I blew one up in my powerdyned 4.3 sonoma....
