Default How far can I push my 10 bolt?

I have a rcsb 2wd with a trutrac. How much power can I get away with on slicks before the 10 bolt gives up? Opinions?

Well, take a look at what CurtD is doing!
I think the recipe to a strong 10 bolt is simply preventing wheel hop issues.
A TA cover will help with the forces applied upon the case under load as well.

Any wheel hop? Or just too much torque. Are there any direct replacement upgrades?

I have seen the stock axles withstand 1.5X 60fts.
Its not a bad idea to upgrade axles though, there only a couple hundred bucks.

When they twist is it a catastrophic failure?

Twisted axles can and will lead to catastrophic failure. They become extrordinarily weak at that point and will break shortly thereafter.
