Default How to Drop your 4x4

ShredSled informed us that he has a nice write up about lowering your 4wd, and I know that a lot of us have done it with different methods, so let's see what ya got and how you did it

Great idea for a thread Billy!

I'll start with the poor mans lowering method.

Front stock keys lowered all the way down, rear is belltech 2'' drop shackle with rear block removed.

looks great Tim.

but gotta hold on, bud got a little trigger happy on this thread when I mentioned a sticky elsewhere. I never said I had a write up myself, but I do definitely have some solid input I can contribute here, although it'll have to wait until I get to a computer!

I really like the looks of your truck man, everything is nice and clean and goes together really nicely, sometimes people over do a theme, yours works perfect IMO.

Ooops, guess that I misunderstood (been home sick with a sinus thing and I'm all full of decongestants and whatnot, so I'm a little woosey ). That's OK though, I still think that it's a great idea for a sticky, especially considering how many lowered 4x4's we have running around this site. 10 or so years ago lowering a 4x4 was considered blasphemy by most, but now it's common practice, and the suspension companies have an array of nice, expensive parts for us to use (unless you do what Tim and I did )

Mild lowering job on my 2002 Z71. Handles a lot better. Ride is smoother than stock, and still can haul roughly a half ton without bottoming out...

Also on the lower end of the cash outlay scale...
SpringTech 2" lowering spindles
Stock keys
Rear block removed
2" BellTech shackles
KYB Monomax shocks

With 20's and 275/55's (as it sits right now):

and with stock later model 17's and 265/70's (winter setup as this is my only 4 wheeled vehicle):

Well, yes and no...lol.

They seem to be a bit more temperature sensitive than stockers. Sometimes they seem a little "floaty" since it's getting a little colder here in the Mid-Atlantic region, but overall...yes, it was a good move. Thanks again for the recommendation.
