Higher stall... worth it?

I've been debating whether I should go with a higher stall or stick with factory. I do quite a bit of towing but also enjoy some stoplight racing. With my Magnacharger and 4.10 gears I usually lay a 10 foot patch before really hooking up and going. What I'm wondering is: with these gears and all this bottom-end do I really need a higher stall? Will I just spin more or will I improve acceleration? Will it be harder on the drivetrain?

I'll probably go with a 2600. Seems to me I wouldn't want to rev past any more of that low end torque than that. How do the stalls work for passing someone at say 40-50mph? Do you really have to get on it?

Id spend that converter money on electric fans, better exhaust, meth, more boost. All those are going to make your traction problems even worse and a higher stall speed converter with a 2wd truck is just going to be useless.

I would take the money your gonna spend on a stall and get a set of DOT drag radials and run them on your stock rims for when your street racing. Your gonna need them anyway for sure if you get a stall. But you will run faster overall if you had traction to match your power, you'll be suprised how much faster a lighter wheel will make you.

Oh...and to the op, I would go with a 2800-3000 stall. You have 4.10's, it would not be that noticeable. I use this rule of thumb with cams and converters, whatever you are thinking about installing..go one step higher! lol

I'll say this, My Yank SC3000 transformed my truck. I'm cutting 1.7 60 ft times while spinning all 4 tires out of the hole. It is definately a worthwhile mod, there is no doubt about it.
