Default Higher stall... worth it?

I've been debating whether I should go with a higher stall or stick with factory. I do quite a bit of towing but also enjoy some stoplight racing. With my Magnacharger and 4.10 gears I usually lay a 10 foot patch before really hooking up and going. What I'm wondering is: with these gears and all this bottom-end do I really need a higher stall? Will I just spin more or will I improve acceleration? Will it be harder on the drivetrain?

A bit higher stall would probably help but your traction issues will become much worse. If you're happy with it, I'd stick with what you've got with that setup.

Yeah, at least do a 2600. The stock stall sucks! I have a Yank TT3000. I like being able to light up the tires at will, even in 2nd gear

I'll probably go with a 2600. Seems to me I wouldn't want to rev past any more of that low end torque than that. How do the stalls work for passing someone at say 40-50mph? Do you really have to get on it?

They're perfect for passing people. I just move the lever into 3rd and can blow by people with ease. But if someone is going 40 on the highway, I will make the most of the opportunity and use 2nd gear.

No ot much difference at all, the Yank converters tend to be pretty tight. You may rev 4-500 more rpm than your stock converter. In all honesty the only real difference youre going to feel with a converter on the street is the shift recovery. Your rpms will drop less after each shift than it did with the stock converter by a couple hundred rpm. At the track on sticky tires is where a converter will really make a difference.

Id spend that converter money on electric fans, better exhaust, meth, more boost. All those are going to make your traction problems even worse and a higher stall speed converter with a 2wd truck is just going to be useless.

I would take the money your gonna spend on a stall and get a set of DOT drag radials and run them on your stock rims for when your street racing. Your gonna need them anyway for sure if you get a stall. But you will run faster overall if you had traction to match your power, you'll be suprised how much faster a lighter wheel will make you.

Street Sleeper...

unless you are running an 80E, you are on a fast track for a new tranny... just saying. Even my built L7 65E I wouldn't do that with.

Oh...and to the op, I would go with a 2800-3000 stall. You have 4.10's, it would not be that noticeable. I use this rule of thumb with cams and converters, whatever you are thinking about installing..go one step higher! lol

I'll say this, My Yank SC3000 transformed my truck. I'm cutting 1.7 60 ft times while spinning all 4 tires out of the hole. It is definately a worthwhile mod, there is no doubt about it.
