Just to update this if someone is reading it. I pulled a front shock today to measure it. I was sort of surprised to find out that my shocks were fully extended when I checked the travel. Without a shock in, I increased my travel another 1 1/2". I will be ordering longer shocks to better use my front suspension when launching. So my actual travel on my passenger side is 6 1/4" of upward movement.

yes typically most standard shocks dont have the travel required for racing, good you found out

now measure the rear shock length

The rear will have relocated shocks behind the axle. I'm still sort of up in the air about it, but I am leaning towards Strange DA shocks. I actually will just buy coilovers with anticipation of possible running the coils if I steer away from the leaf spring. What weight should I get for springs? I think I can get the leafs to hook, I would be looking for better tire clearance. I made a set of 10" wide Gibbs wheels and want them to clear perfectly.

ppl get leafs to work and i plan to make them work as well, im about to order some AFCO DAs here by end of day

ive done alot lately to make my rear setup work for me including a ARB, vertical shocks, bracing

cant answer you on weight of coil overs springs, you may need to scale the truck to get a good idea on that

Stock rear spring rate is 160/360 (the 360 being when the overload is in contact) on the rear leaf springs. Shoot for a coilovers in the 170-180 range and you should be good, but scaling it would be best.

you state 160 is that referring to the top 2 leafs?
the 360 once everything is compressed into the OL?

Yes and yes. The top two leafs combined have a rate of 160, and that info is straight from the manufacturer.
