Dude, get an HD sprag in there. While you're in there you might as well. No sense in spending all that time and money just to have a stupid part like a sprag fail.

There are two roller clutches, and one sprag.....

The Intermediate sprag comes in 16 or 34 element, obviously, you want the 34 element. There are some aftermarket companies make 36 elements, but for the cost, I'd have to roll one over first....

The other two roller clutches are the overdrive roller assy, and the low roller.

Not much to do with the low roller other than INSTALL it in the right direction

The overdrive roller has two versions, the later version is the one with the blue inserts. It was some time in 2001 when the 4l80e started getting the new design roller.....

Also IF you go to a new design overdrive roller, the overrun clutch and the overdrive clutch assy will need to be updated as well.....

OK, I think I'll stick to what I have then. I don't plan on abusing it in over drive and IIRC Thunder broke the sprag and did up grade it and was something crazy like 600 bucks, but I think his broke from 1-2 shift being set up to hard. I'm going conservative on my shift settings

Hmm....not sure why it cost $600. Maybe he upgraded the drum assembly too, which sometimes includes the sprag.

FWIW, you can roll a sprag if you let off while spinning through 1st gear and the tires grab real hard. Like doing a burnout in 1st gear or somthing. That's probably the most common case of a rolled sprag. You might not have to worry about it, since you 4wd guys don't know how to do burnouts.

Humm... Does anyone now if i have to change anything else to run this sprag? I feel like an serous newbie with all these questions about it, but I've never done anything to a tranny other then a shift kit before, lol.

The Overdrive sprag requires a lot of changing to run so I'm gona stick with mine. Oh and Vince, the Sept 07 built version of the Transgo shift kit I got DOES come with a new separator plate. I found that out when I opened the box AFTER I ordered a new one,
