I had a 4" steel driveshaft made for me that was $350.

I think youre on the right track with all the mods like a girdle.

This is the guide most have used to strap their front:
How To - Strap Your Front End - How To - SilveradoSS.com

As far as tie rod ends most of the 1500 guys don't do it... no matter what we do we will never have the same torque off the line that a diesel does... Theyre just out of first gear by nearly 30 MPH. Still something I think I'd like to do though.

I just don't like being that guy that breaks at the starting line.. Lol. So ya may not be needed, I can already tell the limiting straps are pretty much a must if ya wanna cut a dec 60' IMO from where I'm at now I can pretty much expect atleast a half sec drop in 60' realistically with the mods as I'm sittin at a 2.1 now. In my opinion.. Weak sauce!! But baby steps I'll get there!

I think you will be surprised how much harder it leaves with just a converter. My truck consistently goes 1.6x on street tires without straps yet on a similar converter.
