I think Eaton and Detriot Trutrac are what most people go with.

Are you looking to buy a real locker or just a limited slip diff? There's only one company that makes a true locker for an 8.6" rear, but quite a few that make various limited slips.

Detroit Locker/E Locker=Eaton
Detroit Truetrac/helical gear type=Eaton
Posi/LSD=Eaton, Auburn, G80 etc.

Detroit is now onwned by Eaton I really like auburn units they are tough and fairly aggressive limited slip units. I installed a detroit trutrac the other day in a 01 silverado and was very impressed it weighs 10-20 lbs more than the auburn and has no center pin or clutches to burn. The center pin is replaced with a plug and snap ring so no more sheared off center pin lock bolts. I was equally impressed with the way it would lock. bites hard on the pavement and very well in ground it will lock up in a turn if you dump the power to it. The tru trac is quiet also I would get the tru-trac it can be had at 4wheel parts for about 400$-420$ for a 8.5 gm 10blt 30 spline axle I think auburn units are running about 380 now they just did a price increase. also check with randysringandpinion.com

Did you go with Motive gears or his base value?
