Default G80 or Eaton diff????

I have a stock G80 rear end in my truck and it started making a few noises, i havent taken the cover off to see whats wrong yet. Is the stock G80 worth rebuilding or would it be a better idea to go with a Eaton posi? (if the gears are still ok) I have a 3 link air sus. sys. welded on & dont want to redo all the brackets. On the other hand I have a Magna Charger on the truck and dont want to keep rebuilding the rear end. Advice?

Especially with the extra power getting sent to the rear via the Magnacharger, I’m sure you will get nothing but recommendations to change out that thing before it takes out your rear end. A Eaton Posi or a Detroit TruTrac will fill the bill nicely, just don’t wait too long!

I know there both the same company, they both have the same idea, but both work in 2 compleatly different ways(built). there is a $100 diff in price. does one work better than the other at the track?

I have plenty of traction problems with what I have. going to 4.10's prob won't help that to much

It will help with moving the weight of your truck. Your biggest traction problem is actually your tires. 4.10 with the Eaton, and drag radials would transform your truck.

I myself like the Eaton, but for Drag duty I feel they should be set up with the 800lb springs. That's where most people fail to take the extra step to make sure they are going to get the most out of their new differential, but the spring kit costs around a $100, so the price difference is gone. By the way, the Eaton comes with 400lb springs installed. Most people like their TruTrac's for the invisibility of operation on the street, they have a smooth application of power. Both are good!!!

Trutrac, nothing to wear inside. And before you get 4.11 try a search, I'm sure I've read several threads that mention you want higher (lower numerical) gears with a blower due to the generous torque it makes down low.

It makes sense as my truck can barely hook up with 4.10, stock tires, mild 212/218 cam & trutrac when I smash the gas pedal. I'm sure with 4.10 your truck won't be able to get moving so much wheelspin.
