Its a bad idea if you have drum brakes. Spools can break a axle fairly easily. In drum brakes, when the axle breaks it goes shooting out the side of truck tire and all. When a disc brake axle breaks the caliper keeps it from going anywhere. Of course C-clip eliminators and such will help prevent all that. I used to daily drive a mustang with a full spool. Lots of fun but be careful.

You'll probably just start breaking something else once the spool goes in. Off road **** helps cause traction is usually non-existent, but based on your typing it sound like you just need to save up for a simple 9" swap. Just my .02
