Default Fresh 4L80e with HD2 and Circle D.... slipping 2nd

Well I just swapped in the 80e. Transmission is from same year cargo van. It's supposed to be a fresh Raman unit with Alto Red frictions and all new electrical, etc. Its all brand new, but I bought it second hand. When I pulled the pan to install the HD2 kit, it all checked out as new.

I did the segment swap with HPtuners, after adding the harness for the ISS and did the re-pin to the trans connector. All seemed pretty straight forward. Logged to make sure i got the wiring right and seemed to check out from a standstill...

Initially, the shift points were WAY off, but i figured that's expected. I noticed that 2nd gear spikes on the gauge to Max line pressure, right when It shifts and feels like its slipping pretty bad. All the shifts seemed LAZY and slow at first. Ive messed with the pressures a bit and zero'd out the shift adapt tables in the tune. All gears are about 75%-80% better now, with the exception of 2nd gear. It was shifting from 1st to 2nd so quickly and soft, that i couldn't even notice the shift unless i was watching the scanner. I upped the shift speeds and pressures quite a bit to help the shift engage(running a circle D 3200 stall), but the pressure still spikes in 2nd gear and feels like its slipping. When logging, I also noticed that the PCS current will drop when the pressure spikes, so the trans is being told to max out the pressure. Is this a command due to the slipping? I didn't think it was that smart of a system?!

Another thing I noticed was if i manually downshift from 3rd to 2nd, I can give it some throttle and it feels OK. The slipping is worst if I manually upshift into 2nd. If I am at anything over 15% throttle, I almost have to let off the to get it to go into gear, even if I shift manually with the lever. I can post logs, if need be.

I am hoping this is possibly just bad shift solenoid or Pressure manifold switch.. Or at worst case a leaking accumulator seal or a sticking valve in the VB.... Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Are you certain that it's slipping? I know my CD converter was loose as hell but I got used to it.

The fact that you can manually put it in 2nd shows that the trans is OK.

Post the tune and let us look at it.

Yes... Before I even messed with the pressures and was on stock shift speeds, my first pull with 30-40% throttle, I could smell the faint burning of the fluid when I came to a stop. Plus the temp gauge jumped way up... After driving it again today, the truck still shifts really early and I can't even notice it shift from 1st to 2nd. If I didn't have the scanner hooked up watching the gear change, I'd guess it was starting in second whenever the selector in in D or D3. It's WAY slow and soft. What happens when I manually start in D1 and accelerate with moderate amount of throttle or more, I have to sometimes let off the pedal after I shift the lever into D2. If I don't take my foot off, it won't shift or its delayed for a few seconds or more. All other gears and lockup are firm and with no issues.

One other thing, is that I have not had my shift adapts reset with a tech 2. I had the battery disconnected for a week or two while I was waiting for the trans and converter to arrive. I have put the tables back to .100 for the 1-2 shift speeds and a little higher for the others. Weather its the tune getting closer or the adaptive shifting, the truck seems to be getting a little better the more I drive it. I'm going to try to take the truck down and have my buddy clear the adapts out tomorrow after work... And for what it's worth, I'm currently running OLSD tune, so I'm not even sure if the PCM is using any of the shifts as acceptable, so i could be wasting my time with worrying about the adaptive tables anyway. I just haven't decided if I want to zero them out or not.

Either way, the 1-2 upshift still isn't right. The pressure spike and delayed shift is what I'm worried about, since the slipping isn't quite as bad since Ive been playing with the pressures.. If I downshift from 3rd to 2nd, it seems to have nice engine braking and pull nicely with any amount throttle, no slipping. Then when I manually shift back from D2 to D3, I get a shift flare which gets worse with more throttle applied..

The only thing that looks a little fucky is your pressure modifier tables but that's because I've never seen anyone use "0" in most of the cells.

Check your rear cooler fitting on the trans. Watch the video below to understand why.

Here is my shift pressure mod settings. Feel free to test them out.
