Post find out my gear size?!?! HELP

hey guys what is the best way to find out what size gear i have in my rear im about to pull the cover off the rear what do i need to look for is it stamped on there or what...any info wuld help thanks! if it helps the rearend came out of a 99 silverado with a 5.3 in it...

Check your glove box, rpo codes are listed:

GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10
HC4=4.56

and if that doesnt work call the dealership give them your vin number they will be gladly to let you know what gears you have ...

or PM chevracer83 and he can get you that info, he is a parts guy at a dealership

well the rear end is not the stock rear that came in the truck...the rear came out of a 99 silverado with 5.3 so i wuld think that it wuld be 3.73 but u never know thats why i wanted to check

Pick a speed. Say 55mph. Tell us the rpm that you are turning and the tire size and we can figure it out.

Drive the truck in 3rd gear, take a specific rpm and plug a rpm ## into this

mph x gear ratio x 336/rpm.. that will tell ya
