driveline clunks bad...

I have all ready done hours of searching on here..
I know about the slip yoke issues and this may be my problem but it got really bad just the past few days. Under light acceleration from a stop there is a series of clunks, it kind of goes like this ...clunk....clunk..clunk.....cluck and during the 1-2 shift...clunk...even when I let off the throttle at low speeds it will clunk. Now I have greased the crap out of my slip yoke and does not change a thing. The u-joints are good, the engine/trans mounts are good, rear suspension and front suspension are tight including u-bolts and spring pads. I crawled under the truck and shook everything, torsion bars, cross members, control arms, everything. It is all tight except when I push up on my slip yoke I can feel play inside the transfer case and hear a clunk nosie INSIDE the transfer case. Now I can FEEL the clunk in the floor boards and sometimes it sounds like it is coming from the front end. Could my slip yoke be clunking this bad even after greasing it? I mean sometimes it’s LOUD...I'm a ASE certified tech but this clunking is driving me crazy...... Thanks

Hows the bushing for the slip yoke in the transfer case? Can you move the slip yoke up and down (as in towards the floor of the truck and towards the ground)? It could be that bushing.....you need a special tool to replace it.....I've done a few of them....gravy work with the tool.....how about the pads on the tip of the leaf springs...they okay? and you sure your not hearing the steering clunk?

I have already replaced the steering I-shaft with the new one, this is a driveline clunk. Yes I can move the slip yoke up and down, not much thou only about 1/16". This is where I can hear the clunk or cliking noise inside the transfer case. It could be the bushings inside the transfer case it kind of feels like bearing play but I have never torn one apart. I just had my transmission rebuilt a few months ago and this is when the clunking started.

A little update... I did some google searches about Auto-Trak Transfer case clunks and found that alot of the clunks can go away with a fluid change. So I ran outside and checked my fluid level and found that the shop that built my transmission filled the Transfer case with ATF and not the blue stuff. I'm I wrong or could this be part of my problem?

Are you sure the fluid isnt an aftermarket product like BG? The BG x-case stuff we use here at work is pink....not as bright pink as DEX6 but pink.....As for the clunking....have you checked the little pads on the tips of the leaf springs? If your yoke has any un-down play AT ALL as in up towards the bed and down towards the ground, you need to replace the bushing back there.....I know im pretty much repeating my self but theres not much ou can do for clunks on the otherside of a computer....sorry bud....

I had a combination of two problems. I first polished my slip yoke and that reduced the cluck but it was still there at times. I then found that my trans mount was loose, the trans shop installed the mounting nuts finger tight but did not tighten them down. I found this by laying under the truck and bench pressed my transfer case.
