Went to get a set of 4:30 gears for my truck (sierra 1500 4wd) rear end, no problem at all, he said they werent available for the front diff, apparently GM changed the front differential in 2011 and there is no aftermarket gears available, he said I needed the diff case from a 2007-2010, I then questioned about 4:10s and 4:56, apparently samething, they wont fit 2011-2012 differentials, is he pulling my leg? Anyone with a 2011 4wd do a gear swap?

Yukon gear shows a housing change in 2010, not 2011...... but the internals like the gears are the same part number 1988-2012 on an 8.25". They break it down as 1988-1998, 1999-2009, 2010-2012. But the part number for a 4.56 gear set is still 24154 regardless of the year.

That page states that there ring and pinion is compatible with all years of the differential.
Just find someone that makes 4.30's and go nuts. I wouldn't deal with that partsman again as he doesn't have a clue and probably will order you something wrong, lol.

Unless he personally has a stake in it, I would ask him why he cares, lol.
And really.... he can look it up just like you or I can...... But the manufacturers must be wrong right..... Lol.
I actually went on GMpartsdirect and Rockauto.... Same deal. A 2007, 2009 and 2011 use the same ring and pinion part numbers for whatever given ratio.
But they must all be wrong....

I think you might be interpreting what he initially told you wrong. There are no 4.30 for a 8.25" front diff period, not because of the changed housing in 2010. I want to go 4.30 in my Tahoe and when I looked a while back, I did not find a matching gear for the front. However, when you asked him about 4.11 or 4.56, I think he told you incorrectly.
