Default does 480le use alot more hp over a 4l60e

I'm doing a LQ4 swap in a 02 tahoe and was going to use the 4l60e trans with a nelson tune, but would it be worth the 480le swap also? The 1st gear ratios on the 60le are better than the 80le. I think the trans will hold up? I tow a 30' 7000lb trailer once in a while. Is there info on the swap somwhere that I can get with part numbers. Can I still use the 02 pcm with a 480le transmission? Need some help please.

not sure if you can use the same PCM but yes the 80 takes a biut more power to get moving but i dont think your 60 will hold up long. unless you dont really decide to put anything more into the engine. IMO get the 80 or a built 65. it'll be worth it

The 80e swap isnt necessary for what you are doing unless you are going to beef up the 6L alot. Get a built 65e like FLT's Level 5 and be done with it. Its not worth the extra cost for the 80e swap at your power levels and towing weight.

My 80e cost me 12HP more then the 60e when we compared on the dyno but, i wouldn't trade the comfy feeling of have a 1,000+HP handling transmission for any built 60e or 65e....

Your PCM can have the transmission segment rewritten to control either the 60 or 80.
