Default Do I have A bad Torque converter?

I put in my hd2 and an ACC stall (10" 3000 rpms). It feels great except for on the highway. I can feel the torque converter lock but if I give it any gas it slips. It doesn't slip in any other gears and never over my 3000 stall speed, it hooks solid. My tuner tried holding 100% lockup and it still did it. I checked to make sure the TCC valve was in right and it is. I also noticed in the bottom of my drain pan, it looked like little metalic flakes. Is that from the torque converter clutches or do I have a differnt problem causing it?

Thanks in advance

yeah i'm pretty sure it sounds like the lockup clutch it about toast.
if i were you i'd try not drive it anymore to prevent more particles from circulating in the trans.

little metal particles are NEVER ok and the above advice is golden if you want to save the trasmission.

While on the subject, does anyone have a clue how differentiate between converter or transmission slip on a 4L60e and HPT?

What would cause the clutches to go out that quick? It was new and has less then 300 miles on it. I've even been gentle on it.

Seems I recall a parameter called "TCC Slip RPM" within VCMScanner that you can use to log that. Think there's another for component slip (other than TCC). Haven't looked at HPT in a while. Would have to investigate.

As for the TC problem, I would have the TC checked before driving anymore. Clutch material is one thing. Metallic particles are another. Park it!

I just pulled my torque converter. ACC said check to make sure the o-ring on the tranny shaftisn't damaged. I don't think it is but I can't find it, so that could be the problem. They said that it doesn't keep the pressure in the converter. I imagine I should try getting an o-ring. Should I send my converter back to have the clutches inspected? Or should I try Putting it together with a new o-ring?
