Is $100 really worth worrying about if you got an inferior part? I have a trutrac and have nothing bad to say about it.

I've had the TruTrac in since 2006 ish with the 4.10's and no issues. Though I will be replacing the 4.10's hopefully sometime this summer.

Who says it's an inferior part? I've seen more bad Truetrac threads than bad Valuetracs, granted there are probably less of the latter on the road.

Valuetrac here with 4.56's and 33's. No problems. I'd recommend it. Getting ready to install trucool 40gvw cooler and Circle D 278 28-3200. Already have the Transgo HD2 installed. Daily driver 4x4. Not a race truck but runs great in stock trim with Diablo trim. It's headed for the dyno after convertor is in. Maybe long tubes and true duals if I can outsmart the OBD2 and still meet MD emissions.
