Default detroit locker question

getting a detroit locker for my 99 silverado. just wondering, does it come with the carrier bearings? if not will OEM bearings work because i'm sure i can get them cheaper at the dealership i work at. if not which bearings do it use. thanks. also, i found a site that sells the locker for $504. anyone know of getting them cheaper?

Not sure how many miles are on your truck, but if your gonna go through the hassle of installing a new diff i'd spend the little bit of $$ and get new bearings/seals as well.

if you take that price to 4wheelparts.com they say they will beat it. and you have to get the diffrent bearings becouse the detroit carrier is bigger and the stock bearings won't fit it. the install kits come with all the stuff you need: shims, bearings, races, and the install paint stuff for the gears to check your contact pattern. and 4wheelparts gave me a life time warranty on the bearing and seals along with the locker.

If you dont want to do it yourself you can pay $1100 and have it installed. I had mine installed and wish i did it myself. Thats $500 for other mods I could have had.

All the 99-up trucks will just use the stock size bearings, it was only the 98-earlier trucks that needed the upgrade. I would also reccomend new bolts.

did they give you a warrenty from them or the one that comes with the locker because detriot gives a lifetime warrenty on them as long as it doesn't break from a axle shaft breaking witch is about the only way i have heard you can break them. and the locker use the normal 8.6 bearings.

the warranty for the locker is from detroit i guess but he said he would gimmie a warranty on all the bearings seals and what not. he told me i needed the install kit i didn't know if the bearings would fit or not but if you go to there web site it says you need the install kit so i got it. all well if i didn't need it atleast i know everything in back is warrantied but axles so i'm happy.
