Well, it's a hell of lot harder than I thought it would be. Hardest part so far would be the damn bellhousing bolts on the sides. I used about 48" of extensions to get to some of them, after lowering the tranny jack about 2-3 inches. The top bolt wasn't that hard to get to. I've read where people have been using swivels with a bunch of extensions and lowering the trans down as far as it will go, etc. I just jumped in the engine bay and stood on the frame in front of the motor (Electric Fan space) and used a 13mm & 15mm gear wrench. What really suprised me was that the bellhousing bolt was barely in at all. 1/2 a turn and sucker came off with my finger tips!

It wouldn't take near as long if I had a lift or somebody else that actually knew about these trucks and could help out. I'm doing it myself in the carport on some harbor frieght 6 ton jackstands. I'm slow at doing crap and so far it's taken me about 8 hours to pull it and swap the converters. Trying to get the fluid out of the pan without a drain plug took about an hour alone. Now I just gotta get it back in and hooked up.

Also had a little trouble getting the trans off of the motor. The dowels were a little seized/rusted. Especially the passenger side one. I'm gonna put a small amount of anit-seize on them, that way if there is a next time, it won't be as hard.

Question: Is this the way the trans filter extension is supposed to go? By putting the seal on the bottom of the extension, then putting the other extension on the top of the extension? I'm confused by this.
